Offshore Wind Opportunities - The U.S Market

In November 2010, the U.S. Government established a programme to expedite offshore wind permitting.

A strategic plan was implemented in February 2011, which pursues the deployment of 10 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2020 and 54 GW by 2030. The plan also created $50.5 million in funding opportunities for projects that support offshore wind energy development. These two announcements demonstrate that the U.S. is serious about advancing the development of the offshore wind industry, at both the federal and state levels.

The webinar hosted by UK Trade & Investment will bring together industry leaders to provide overviews of federal policies in place to facilitate growth and investment, and commercial opportunities available in the states.

Speakers will include:

"Committed to Development: US Federal Policies and Incentives"

Jim Lanard, President, Offshore Wind Development Coalition

"Commercial Opportunities in the US"

Karlis Povisils, Development Manager, Apex Wind

"Doing business in the U.S. Renewable Energy Industry"

American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE)

This will be followed by a question and answer session, to be moderated by Spencer Mahony, UKTI Washington. Questions may be sent before the webinar to Raissa Wilbur.
