OIE Services awarded new contract worth half-a-million poundsOIE Services, one of Scotland’s leading maintenance management and recruitment companies, has won a new half-a-million-pound contract with Offshore Group Newcastle Limited (trading as OGN Group). OIE Services is a maintenance management and recruitment company made up of three divisions which combine to offer a total maintenance management solution in one integrated package.
The Aberdeen-based company, which is owned by local entrepreneur Mark Cavanagh, will focus on providing the OGN Group with innovative support and solutions for the maintenance and operational needs of the new oil production platform they are constructing at their Wallsend yard.
The OGN Group is building a satellite oil production platform for the UK Forties field which will be bridge-linked to the existing Forties Alpha installation in the Apache-operated field, located on the UK continental shelf.
Using a number of techniques, OIE Services will undertake responsibility for the maintenance build of the platform while concentrating on safety, environmental impact and production.
Fred Carruthers, maintenance engineering manager at OIE Services, said: “Safety of personnel is paramount so getting the maintenance right is absolutely crucial. “At OIE we provide maintenance management systems required for safe and professional operation, while lowering the levels of environmental impact as well as minimising production downtime. Using a bespoke set of software tools we ensure we meet these targets and we are delighted to have been awarded this contract as it underlines our commitment to helping our clients further streamline their processes and secure best value for money.”
The satellite platform will provide 18 new slots for drilling additional development wells to increase the ultimate recovery from the prolific Forties field, the largest hydrocarbon discovery in the UK North Sea.
In addition to increased drilling capabilities, the satellite platform will expand critical utility services to the field, including power generation, produced fluid processing, high-pressure gas compression for artificial lift, and dehydration.
Onshore construction is expected to be complete by mid-year 2012. The platform will then be towed and installed at the Forties field.
The first oil is estimated in the fourth quarter of this year. 102 views
