OIL & GAS UK Invites Nominations For Industry Awards 2011Nominations open on Monday 6 June for the 2011 Oil & Gas UK Awards, which will provide a special opportunity to focus attention on the achievements of the people and businesses who are making outstanding contributions to the oil and gas industry. As principal sponsor of the prestigious Awards ceremony, which regularly attracts around five hundred people to Aberdeen’s Exhibition and Conference Centre, Shell U.K. Limited, said: “In this industry we tend to hide our light under a bushel and these awards are a magnificent opportunity to showcase some of its talent and achievements. The greatest attraction of these awards to us is the focus on young people as they are our future and attracting the brightest of them to the great careers that this industry can offer is very important.”
Nominations are now invited for the following categories: Individual Awards • The Oil & Gas UK Award for Overall Excellence, sponsored by Marathon Oil U.K. Ltd, for outstanding achievement by young people working in the UK offshore oil and gas industry today; • The Oil & Gas UK Award for Young Technician of the Year, sponsored by OPITO, which recognises the vital contribution of our industry’s technicians; • The Oil & Gas UK Award for Mentoring, sponsored by Chevron Upstream Europe, to highlight the important role mentors play in sharing their knowledge and expertise with the next generation of oil and gas workers. Trisha O’Reilly, Oil & Gas UK’s communications director, said: “Currently we face not only the economic and technical challenges of maximising production from the UK’s maturing oil and gas province but also the implications of the fiscal changes announced in the 2011 Budget. The industry will need to draw on all its resourceful energy, technical virtuosity and collaborative spirit to face these challenges. These will be the qualities which we will be celebrating when we announce the award-winning individuals and companies on 3 November.”
