Oil and gas workers spread Christmas spirit for local and national causesA GROUP of big hearted Aberdeen based oil and gas rental specialists are helping to spread Christmas cheer by donating £2,800 to local charities, ensuring the vulnerable in the North-east enjoy some of the special qualities the festive period brings. Staff at ATR Group raised the funds at their Christmas party to be shared equally by Instant Neighbour’s Giving Tree Appeal, which delivers gifts to underprivileged children around the region, and Aberdeen Cyrenians, providing the homeless with a warm place to stay and access to food parcels during the festive season.
The Giving Tree will receive a raft of presents from the company, while the Cyrenians will receive a cash donation from the firm.
On top of their festive efforts, 11 men from the firm’s offices in Bridge of Don and Dyce have also raised more than £3,000 to raise vital funds and awareness of men’s health issues by donating their faces to the national campaign Movember - which saw them all sporting moustaches throughout November.
Keith Moorhouse, managing director of ATR group says: “Christmas is an especially difficult period for many, in particular those left vulnerable by their circumstances, and underprivileged children and families.
"The team decided at the company Christmas party that they wanted to make a real difference to those less fortunate in the north-east.
“We hope to put a smile on the faces of some of those children who wake up on Christmas day with no presents to open, as well as providing some warmth, shelter and food to those who would otherwise spend the festive period alone in the cold.
“We have a great team spirit at ATR and it was fantastic to see the guys pulling together to help raise funds for Movember, which raises awareness of men’s health at a national level, particularly prostate cancer.” 111 views
