One Stop Waste Solutions boxes clever to support hazardous waste disposal

An Aberdeen-based integrated waste management specialist is broadening its service portfolio in a move to help companies and organisations dispose of hazardous waste items correctly and legally.

One Stop Waste Solutions is introducing a cost-effective system in support of businesses that do not generate large quantities of hazardous waste – but still need to meet environmental obligations.

The system involves providing a box into which any materials deemed by law to be hazardous – ranging from batteries and electrical equipment to paints and cleaning fluids – can be placed.

One Stop Waste Solutions collects the 45-litre box as and when required and ensures all items enter the right disposal streams.

“Many workplaces such as small manufacturing or commercial sites, or office facilities, inevitably generate some hazardous waste,” says Managing Director Craig Donoghue. “That can pose difficulties for the organisation in terms of finding a cost-effective way to dispose of it properly.

“Our Haz Box service is an efficient way for them to meet their legal responsibilities while also underpinning their environmental credentials.

“The likelihood is that much of the waste collected in this way will be reused or recycled in some form.”

The service, delivered at a fixed rate cost, can help organisations dispose of materials such as - small pieces of electrical apparatus, including IT equipment; batteries of all types and sizes; light fittings, such us fluorescent tubes; ‘kitchen’ items: cleaning products, fluids and aerosols; paints, filters and oily rags.

“We’re pleased to be introducing a service that extends the range of our support facilities at a time when businesses simply cannot afford to ignore their waste-related issues,” adds Craig Donoghue.

One Stop Waste Solutions, based at the Gallowhill Waste Management and Recycling facility, provides an integrated waste management service – audits to identify waste disposal needs, advice on receptacles, the shredding of confidential documents, the handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste as well as collecting, disposing of material and recycling wherever possible.

The company services more than 200 businesses across the north-east of Scotland, collecting, segregating, recycling and disposing of materials from paper, food, glass and wood to oils, paint and hazardous substances.
