Places still available for waste awareness seminar in Aberdeen

Places are still available for an Aberdeen event to highlight the benefits of a waste awareness strategy for north-east businesses.

The lunchtime session, organised by One Stop Waste Solutions and environmental charity Aberdeen Forward, will involve discussions and presentations on legislation, waste reduction, reusing and recycling as well as solutions on dealing with waste issues in the workplace.

Craig Donoghue, Managing Director of One Stop Waste Solutions, said: “This is an ideal opportunity for local businesses to find out more about meeting their legal responsibilities, while also enhancing their environmental credentials.”

The seminar will take place at Aberdeen Forward’s city centre offices at 2 Poynernook Road on Tuesday June 7, noon to 2pm. Lunch is included in the free session, which is open to all businesses in the north-east.

Based at the Gallowhill Waste Management and Recycling facility near Cove, One Stop Waste Solutions recently launched the HazBox ¬ a cost-effective system in support of businesses that do not generate large quantities of hazardous waste – but still need to meet environmental obligations. One Stop Waste Solutions collects the 45-litre box as and when required and ensures all items enter the right disposal streams.

The service, delivered at a fixed rate cost, can help organisations dispose of materials such as - small pieces of electrical apparatus, including IT equipment; batteries of all types and sizes; light fittings, such us fluorescent tubes; ‘kitchen’ items: cleaning products, fluids and aerosols; paints, filters and oily rags.

One Stop Waste Solutions provides an integrated waste management service – audits to identify waste disposal needs, advice on receptacles, the shredding of confidential documents, the handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste as well as collecting, disposing of material and recycling wherever possible.

The company services more than 200 businesses across the north-east of Scotland, collecting, segregating, recycling and disposing of materials from paper, food, glass and wood to oils, paint and hazardous substances.

Places for the lunchtime seminar are limited and delegates are requested to register in advance by contacting Aberdeen Forward on 01224 560360 or admin@abzforward.plus.com.
