Policy : About Policy
Policy Development

Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce handles an exacting schedule of government consultation, business surveys, policy campaigns and ministerial and departmental lobbying, raising the profile in government and in the media of those issues central to the interests of the local business community.

Our Policy Unit is made up of our 35 Council members, who represent a broad cross-section of local businesses in terms of both size and sector. In developing a policy position at either aggregate level or individual level (where an issue affects a single company or sector), we also consult with the policy units of the British Chambers of Commerce and Scottish Chambers of Commerce, as well as sectorial experts and other member companies.

Lobbying
By effectively communicating our policy positions to those in power or with influence, through correspondence, briefings and media statements, we aim to influence the process outcome in favour of our members.

In addition to making representations to local politicians, Scottish Parliament MSPs and Government MPs individually, the Chamber also adds its voice to the lobbying activity of SCC, BCC and local public/private sector partnerships such as the Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Forum (ACSEF) and the North East Scotland Transport Partnership (NESTRANS)
