Professor is guest speaker at Aberdeen Women’s Alliance AGM

Professor of Economics at Glasgow Caledonian University Ailsa McKay will be the guest speaker at the Aberdeen Women's Alliance annual general meeting next Monday [29 August]

She will present a talk entitled 'Are women bearing the burden of the cuts?' at the event, which runs 5.45pm–8pm in the first-floor restaurant in the Town House, Broad Street, Aberdeen. The talk will be followed by a round-table discussion.

 

Dr McKay is a founding member of the Scottish Women's Budget Group and the European Gender Budget Network, and is a member of the International Association for Feminist Economics. She is Vice Dean of the Caledonian Business School and Acting Head of the Department of Economic Studies and International Business.

 

She has been Visiting Chair in Gender Studies at University Complutense, Madrid, since 2006 and has been invited as an expert witness to give evidence during the budget scrutiny process to a number of Scottish Parliament committees and to the Standing Committee on the Status of Women of the Canadian Parliament.
