Public hearing recommended for recycling centre plans

Councillors are to consider whether a public hearing should be held into plans to build a recycling centre on part of the former Grove Nursery site in Hazlehead.

SITA UK has lodged plans to build a household waste recycling centre where city residents can take domestic waste including wood and cardboard, garden waste, metal, rubble and glass to be recycled.

Planners have recommended that the application be deferred for a public hearing because the proposal represents a departure from the development plan, relates to land within council ownership and has attracted more than 20 letters of objection.

The committee will consider the report when it meets on Thursday, 3 November.
