Public Invited to Critique Architects of TomorrowMembers of the public will have the opportunity to view firsthand the designs and concepts created by the next generation of architects at Robert Gordon University next week (Thursday 19 May). Students from the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment will take part in a day-long public discussion that will see their work critiqued by a panel of internationally respected architects and commentators.
Entitled 'The Big Crit' and sponsored by Russwood Ltd, next week's event will see 26 students, drawn from each stage and Masters unit of the Architecture course, deliver presentations on their work, as well as provide leaflets and three-dimensional models to clearly explain the thought-processes behind their ideas.
On the day, they will be critiqued by an expert panel gathered from across the UK - including Peter St John of Caruso St John and Ellis Woodman, editor of Building Design - as well as industry tutors from the School's Masters programmes.
The event will also act as a preview of some of the final year students' work in progress ahead of the School's End of Year Show which launches on Wednesday 15 June.
Penny Lewis, Architecture lecturer and a leading organiser of next week's event, said: "The Big Crit provides a great opportunity for students to test their ideas and be challenged by leading architects."
The Big Crit will take place at the University's Scott Sutherland School, Garthdee Road on Thursday 19 May, and will run from 9am - 5.30pm.
Members of the public are invited to attend, however spaces are limited, so those wishing to come along should contact Helen Aggasild on (01224) 263700 or by contacting h.aggasild@rgu.ac.uk to reserve their place. Staff will also be on hand throughout the day to give advice to anyone interested in studying at the School.
