RGU to host taster evening for Postgraduate Certificate in Oil and Gas Law

Robert Gordon University’s Aberdeen Business School is hosting a taster evening for their new accredited campus-based MSc/LLM Oil and Gas Law course on Thursday 22 September.

The evening will consist of a short presentation by William Craig, course leader for Oil and Gas Law, followed by a Q&A session and the chance to converse directly with the course delivery team.

The taster evening is aimed at individuals looking for the next step in their career and to enhance their Oil and Gas Law knowledge in a demanding market, as well as for companies looking to boost the expertise of in-house law resource. The session will provide a valuable opportunity for potential students to gain an insight into postgraduate study, the course and career opportunities.

The MSc/LLM Oil and Gas Law is a vocational, practical programme aimed at oil and gas professionals, developed with input from leading operators as well as practising lawyers, ensuring that content is current and relevant to the industry. It is the only accredited MSc/LLM Oil and Gas Law degree available in Aberdeen, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and the Energy Institute. The new campus-based option has been introduced at the request of both industry and students and its on-campus nature offers a competitive course fee.

Denis Pinto, Chairman of the Energy Institute Aberdeen Highlands and Islands Branch, said, “The course is accredited by the Energy Institute, the professional body for the Oil & Gas Industry and graduates are given membership of the institute on completion of the course.

“The course is being introduced at a key time when the renewable energy sector is gathering pace and, as both the technology and the law relevant to these develop, the course will provide valuable tools and knowledge to help legal professionals overcome challenges and fill knowledge gaps.”

The launch of the full-time campus based course follows on from the success of RGU’s distance learning Postgraduate Certificate in Oil and Gas Law launched in 2006, which has seen over 150 students successfully complete the qualification since its inception.
