Rotech Group Restructure To Meet Renewables GrowthA global subsea engineering firm has secured more than £8million worth of contracts in their central region of UK and Europe in the past 12 months, exceeding estimated targets. Rotech Group, which provides innovative engineering solutions for the oil, gas and renewable energy sectors, employs more than 150 staff across three operating bases in Aberdeen, Houston and Singapore. The firm has been market leaders in mass flow excavation since 1998 and previously concentrated on developing international business before deciding to form the central region in 2010 to target the renewable sector, and re enter the Oil & Gas market. In the first twelve months, the central region has secured contracts in the region of £8m, with £5m of that from January this year. The majority of work has come through the renewables market with projects including work on a power cable stretching from England to the Netherlands and also subsea cable operations for what will be the UK’s biggest operating wind farm off the south east coast of Great Yarmouth. To manage the company’s growth in this area, Rotech has expanded and restructured its business development team at the headquarters in Aberdeen. Newly appointed Vice President of Business Development (Central Region) Stephen Cochrane, who previously managed the development in the oil and gas sector and the growth of the renewable market, will continue to focus and steer the Central Region as it enters a new period of growth and expansion in the UK and Europe. As part of the restructure, Technical Manager Alex Whyte has moved across from operations to business development to use his wealth of experience in the oil and gas industry to further expand in this area. Rotech has also appointed a new Commercial Manager to assist the firm with bid and proposals for the central region. Iain Buchan has moved from a commercial position out with the industry to take on the new role. CEO of Rotech, Tim Sheehan, said: “We have exceeded all expectations in the UK and Europe during the last year. We formed the central region to maximize opportunities closer to home and strengthen our focus on the renewables market and up to 70% of our central region turnover since January has come through renewables projects. “As a result winning some major contracts in this arena, we had to restructure the business to allow for continued growth and the business development team is key to that growth.” Rotech’s main focus is the provision of subsea excavation services to the oil and gas, renewable energy, salvage and decommissioning markets. The global company are industry experts in developing renewable tidal energy technology and solution focussed drilling products and the subsea and renewable divisions complement their engineering and fabrication service. In the last year Rotech has recruited a number of key personnel and have also introduced in-house training to develop the company’s core skills and specialist services.
