Santa’s Get Set to Take to the Streets

WildHearts Aberdeen Santa Run

Date: Sunday November 27

Aberdeen will be flooded with festive cheer this weekend as the fourth annual WildHearts Santa Run takes place at Pittodrie, Sunday November 27. Santas of all shapes, sizes and ages will merrily walk, jog or run around the 6km route along Aberdeen’s beach front, festively attired in Father Christmas costumes provided by the organisers to ensure they look the part. Santa hats and fluffy white beards will be provided too to keep off the chilly North Sea wind!

Hosted by Aberdeen Football, the Santa Run incorporates a lap of honour around the pitch at Pittodrie and a fun warm-up event lead by Angus the Bull. Friends, families and office teams from across the North-east have signed up to take part, but limited places are still available. Children will be able to take part too – as ‘Wee Santas’ decked out in special Santa t-shirts and hats – and enjoy kicking off the festive period with their families.

WildHearts provide microloans and business training to help people in the developing world work their own way out of poverty, giving them a hand up and not a hand out. Previous Santa Runs have played a vital role in WildHearts growth, culminating in the charity opening projects in 14 new countries this year across Africa, Asia and Latin America. WildHearts founder Mick Jackson is excited about welcoming participants to the event once again:

“The Aberdeen Santa Run has been instrumental in helping WildHearts transform lives across the globe. Our Aberdeenshire Santas have helped us to fight poverty in fifteen different countries on four continents. Money raised at this year’s event will be re-lent to people living in poverty for years to come, building on the legacy of the Santa Run and giving poverty-stricken people across the world a truly meaningful Christmas present.”

The entry fee for the event – which includes a Santa suit, medal and a goody bag – is £15 for adults and £10 for under 13s, who receive a special Santa t-shirt and hat.

For more information on the Santa Run or to sign up visit www.wildheartsinaction.org or call 01309 678100. Entry closes at 12pm on Saturday 26th November, though limited places may be available on the day.
