Scotland’s Greatest Industry

Long considered one of Scotland’s greatest industries, tourism is something we can all enjoy and support - but could we be doing more to improve our offering for visitors and to build up our businesses? Three speakers with a wealth of experience will discuss some of the issues facing the tourism industry at Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce’s Business Breakfast on April 13.

Andrew Martin of RGU, Director of the Scottish Centre of Tourism will look at both the economic and social importance of the tourism industry; David MacIntyre, a past director of the Scottish Tourist Board will discuss how the industry can improve its potential and Steve Callaghan of the National Trust for Scotland will outline the Trust’s commitment to the North-east.

The Chamber recently established a Tourism Network Sector Group to identify some of the issues facing the industry in the region. It has just carried out a survey which will be used to help share best practice and ensure that the sector in the North-east has good quality information on which to base its decision making. Preliminary results of the survey will be announced at the event.

The breakfast will be held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre from 7-9am. Cost is £25 (ex VAT) for members and £38 (ex VAT) for non-members. VisitScotland Expo, Scotland's premier business to business event for the travel industry, opens at the AECC immediately after this breakfast.
