Scottish Chambers Of Commerce Appoint New Chairman

Scottish Chambers of Commerce have today appointed Aberdeen-based businessman Mike Salter as their new Chairman at their Annual General Meeting. Mike replaces Norman Quirk, who has completed his two year term of office and steps down after a successful period at the helm of Scotland's Ultimate Business Network.
Looking forward to his Chairmanship, Mike Salter said:
"I am relishing the opportunity to lead Scotland's foremost business organisation through its next stage of development. With the Scottish economy facing a challenging period, the Chamber of Commerce movement in Scotland has never been more important, and I am delighted that we have seen a growing membership across Scotland over the past year. Our challenge is to ensure that our member businesses are provided with the very best support to allow them to seize upon the new opportunities that exist in our economy and take a head start on the international stage once the recovery gets underway in earnest.
"Chambers of Commerce form the most widely known and respected business support network across the world. We have an unparalleled brand and I am determined to raise our game still further in terms of the product we offer to our growing number of members. Scottish Chambers of Commerce is Scotland's Ultimate Business Organisation, and I intend to cement our position at the forefront of business support and representation." Bob Collier, Chief Executive of Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) said: "We're delighted that Mike Salter is taking on the role of SCC chairman and congratulate him on his appointment. Clearly having been president of AGCC for the past two years, Mike is well placed to help raise awareness of local issues facing the Aberdeen City and Shire region and we're looking forward to working with him at national level."
