Serimax Complete Dong Energy Project for Technip

Serimax has completed a fabrication project on behalf of Technip for Dong Energy’s Oselvar field in the Norwegian North Sea.

The international full service welding group was contracted to fabricate, field joint coat and hydrotest an 85 metre pipe-in-pipe I-Spool.

The I-Spool was constructed out of Super Duplex 10” inner pipe which was insulated along its length before it was inserted inside a 14” carbon steel pipe which was externally coated with three layer polypropylene.

The workscope also included the fabrication of the five outrigger sea-fastening structures which were required to support the I-spool on the installation vessel.

The project was carried out at a quayside fabrication facility recently set up by Serimax at Cromarty Forth Port Authority’s Invergordon base in the north of Scotland.

Serimax regional manager for North Europe, Les Dickson, said: “We were awarded this contract because of our experience and as we are the market leader in the welding of duplex. By setting up a facility at Invergordon this complements our existing base at Evanton, and demonstrates our responsiveness to complete the challenge and meet the project schedule.”
