Showcase of skills at Aberdeenshire learner’s eventAberdeenshire Literacies Partnership is celebrating the work of its learners with a “Deenshire Learner’s Event” at Curl Aberdeen. Adult learners in Aberdeenshire came together and decided they would like an event to celebrate the learning that takes place in our communities – showing different skills and talents and allowing everyone a chance to learn and try out new things, celebrate achievements, meet other learners and have fun.
The event will feature a variety of workshops manned by learners as well as an exhibition of their work and will take place on Saturday, September 24.
The workshops aim to highlight the importance of literacy in every aspect of daily life.
They will provide a platform for learners to acknowledge and celebrate existing skills as well as new found skills, which include improved levels of reading and writing, increased levels of self esteem and confidence, presentation skills, public speaking, ICT and negotiation skills.
The event will also let learners celebrate and reflect upon their own individual and collective learning journey and its impact on their lives, families and local communities.
Keynote speaker at the event will be Aberdeenshire Council’s Director of Education, Maria Walker.
The event will feature a morning and an afternoon session and will run from 9.45am to 4pm, including attractions such as a Zumba demonstration and bingo.
Members of the public are also invited to come and celebrate learners’ achievements throughout Aberdeenshire. 72 views
