Singing and Signing at Aberdeen Fayre

Aberdeen youth group, Music in Motion, will be taking to the stage for the first time at the Insight Aberdeen Third Sector and Volunteering Fayre on 2nd July.

Music in Motion, which is coordinated by Music 4 U and incorporates Singing Hands Youth, will be combining singing and sign language to give a performance which can be enjoyed by anyone.

The group includes deaf and hearing performers aged from six to sixteen years old and is tutored by both deaf and hearing practitioners.

Debbie Kirkness, Founder and Creative Director with Music 4 U, said, “This is one of our new projects highlighting our inclusivity remit and forms part of our recently developed integrated stage school. I have studied and learned British Sign Language for the past 18 months to enable those with hearing impairments the opportunity to perform.”

The Insight Aberdeen Fayre, which is run by ACVO (Aberdeen Council of Voluntary Organisations), is an annual showcase event for local charities, voluntary groups and not-for-profit organisations. Almost fifty organisations will be manning stalls at the event which takes place from 10am-3pm at the Music Hall on Saturday 2nd July 2011.

There will be onstage entertainments throughout the day, with Music in Motion scheduled to perform at 11am.
