Skibo Technologies expands workforce following contract wins

IT services company Skibo Technologies (Skibo) has recruited six additional members of staff to its support team after winning contracts worth in excess of £400,000. The Aberdeen-based firm has secured 18 new contracts for the provision of technical resources and ICT support for a range of clients in the energy & marine sectors. The recruitment drives brings the total number of people employed at the company to 34, and increase of 20% since the start of the year.

Sarah Toop, Michael Gervaise, Darren Wallace, Lee Johnston, Hasrat Bhanot and James Gomez all join Skibo’s support services team. With further rapid growth predicted within its computer forensics division – software asset management and investigation of data leaks are fast becoming a key strength of the firm – Skibo expects to continue to add to its expanding team in the coming months.

Skibo managing director Mark Mair says, “We are on course to continue the trend that we have set in the last four years of increasing annual turnover, and aim to achieve a turnover of £2.2 million – helped by this latest raft of contract wins – for our current financial year.

“We have grown very quickly since we launched in 2006, and we are always looking to recruit dynamic staff members who can enhance our team and its capabilities. More and more of our clients are now moving away from on-premises IT towards cloud-based services. We have put together a very strong team of specialists who will be able to make the transition seamless and provide high levels of ongoing support.”

Skibo has also recently invested over £100,000 in the latest automated IT infrastructure support and monitoring systems to provide increased levels of pro-active support to clients. The system allows Skibo staff to continuously monitor a client’s IT infrastructure, and an automated warning enables engineers to react immediately to any issues that arise. The alerts apply to all areas of IT infrastructure, whether it is in the office, installed in fleet vehicles or in the offshore or marine environment.

Mr Mair adds, “This system allows us to provide an improved service offering to clients as we can be pro-active instead of reactive due to the fact that we are constantly aware of the state of IT systems. In many cases we become aware of an issue before the client becomes aware and can take steps to resolve it before it starts to have any kind of impact on a client’s business activities.”
