Assessment
How will I learn and be assessd?
To gain an SVQ/NVQ, you need to show you've got a particular set of skills. You usually work with your training provider to review your current skills and find the best way to gain new ones - perhaps by trying new things at work, or by studying. SVQ/NVQs are assessed in the workplace.
For each unit your assessor observes and asks questions as you perform a task, or looks at a portfolio of work that you've built as formal evidence of your learning. Then they confirm you've got the skills to do the job well. You'll be assessed by presenting of a portfolio of evidence including assessor observation reports, questioning, or professional discussion.
The Standards
The Standards
The standards have now been revised and updated to make them more streamlined and reflective of current good practice. Previously this award could be cumbersome and difficult for candidates to achieve. The changes make the new awards very acceptable to the modern work place and the new style of units; make them achievable in a shorter period of time. Again, the award is an assessment of the candidate's competence and they are completed in the workplace.
A vocational qualification is proof that you have the right skills to do your job well, which is why so many employers look for people who have one. You can be confident your qualification is well respected within your industry.
Assessor & Verifier Awards
The Assessor and Verifier Awards have also been revised and these are offered as separate qualifications.
The Assessor (A1) unit and the Verifier (V1) units have been replaced in the standards review with units L&D 9D, L&D 9DI and L&D 11.
These are separately undertaken and assessed by the AGCC VQ Team.
