Space Designers Help AMEC’s Expansion in Teesside

Global engineering firm AMEC has moved 50 staff into a purpose-built new North East of England base – in just three weeks.

The impressive turnaround was handled by commercial property experts Space Solutions, which ensured the extensive refurbishment and move management took only 21 days.

Andy Dobinson, Business Manager at Space Solutions, said the project had been demanding for the workplace design and move management teams.

He added: “Most people who work in offices have seen the upheaval involved in moving half a dozen desks. We specialise in making those moves happen on a much bigger scale without the disruption.

“However, even for us with our wealth of expertise and experience, this was a testing project because the timescales were so tight. So we’re delighted it worked out so well.”

Household name AMEC is one of the world’s biggest engineering, project management and consultancy companies with 75 offices across Britain.

The relocation saw 50 staff in Stockton-on-Tees, move from a former base in Wynyard Park to a refurbished, 5600 sq ft suite at Lion Court in the town’s Wynyard Business Park.

The £125,000 saw workplace design experts from Space Solutions transform the Lion Court premises, creating a new reception area, cellular offices and meeting rooms and installing new glazing, partitioning and ventilation systems.

Space Solutions then relocated all of AMEC’s staff in the region and their office furniture into the new offices with minimum disruption and down time for the company.

Andy Dobinson added: “As logistical challenges go, this was right up there and our team put in a huge effort. Thanks are also due to all those staff from AMEC, who worked with us to make things go smoothly.

“The result is that we were able to complete the project on-time, within budget and with the minimum disruption for AMEC and its staff.

“The company now has a stunning new office that should benefit its staff and its operations in the North East of England for many years to come.”
