SPEX SERVICES STRENGHTENS SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM WITH TRIO OF APPOINTMENTSAberdeen-based specialist explosives service provider, SPEX Services (SPEX), has bolstered its senior management team with a trio of appointments. SPEX, which was established in the Granite City in 2009, has promoted Simon McKay to engineering director, Paul Jefferson to production director and recruited Ryan Strachan as chief financial officer.
Simon, a chartered engineer, initially joined the firm in 2009 as one of its first employees and helped establish the company's quality and H&S ISO certifications.
With more than 14 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, Simon will now head up SPEX’ engineering team and will be responsible for directing the company’s new product development efforts.
Paul has also brought a wealth of impressive experience to the new production director role. After working in the aerospace sector for more than 25 years, he embarked on a career in the oil and gas industry, which he has worked in for the past 12 years.
The former Rolls-Royce and Schlumberger employee now heads up SPEX’ production department, working closely with Simon, and will provide experienced oversight of new product development from concept engineering through to the manufacturing process.
As chief financial officer, Ryan has been brought in to lead the strategic and financial development of the firm. Before joining SPEX, the qualified chartered accountant was employed by Ernst and Young LLP for 11 years, working in both its Aberdeen and Melbourne, Australia, offices.
