Spike the talking cactus back in action at Duthie Park

A favourite attraction of Aberdeen’s Duthie Park will be back in action this weekend.

Spike the talking cactus will be entertaining crowds in the popular park’s David Welch Winter Gardens from 11.30am-4pm on Saturday [26 November].

The famous attraction made a return to the Winter Gardens earlier this year after being removed in 1998. His comeback was cut short, however, when 16 windows in the gardens’ arid house were damaged by vandals, forcing its closure.

Aberdeen City Council facility manager Alan Findlay said: “Spike is always very popular with visitors to the park and I am sure they will look forward to what he has to say, while also taking time to enjoy the countless exotic plants on display.”
