Stars set to shineFinalists in this year’s Northern Star Business Awards have less than a week to wait before they find out if they will be named one of the winners at the 2011 awards ceremony at the Press and Journal Arena at the AECC.
(Rising Star Finalists l-r Aileen Scott - Indigo Technologies, Mark Fisher - Zenith Oilfield Technologies, Rajini Sokhi - Active Sustainable Energy) The Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce event, which takes place on Thursday October 6, will see 42 finalists in 14 categories all hoping to win one of the prestigious awards. This year saw the introduction of four new categories – Best Campaign, Green Business, Energy and Outstanding Contribution to Society – to reflect changing trends in business. Some of the existing awards were also amended to take account of new working practices. Finalists, sponsors and judges met last night at reception to mark the achievements of businesses which made it on to the short list in each category. Chamber president George Yule, who welcomed guests to the reception said that the Awards had seen a 20% rise in nominations from across all sectors of North-east business: “Not only did we receive more entries than ever before, the quality of applications this year was extremely high making the judging process very difficult.” This is the eighth year of the Awards and more than 800 people will attend the ceremony and gala dinner which will be hosted by TV personality Gaby Roslin. A limited number of tables and individual tickets are still available for event. For more information or to book your place email events@agcc.co.uk or call 01224 343901.
