Streets to close for heating works to be carried outA series of Aberdeen streets will start to close from Monday to allow for ongoing pipe-laying works. The closures and parking restrictions are necessary to protect public safety as contractors carry out heating duct pipe-laying works.
On Monday Frederick Street will be closed from its junction with King Street to its junction with Park Street.
Not all of the road will be closed or subject to a ban on parking at the same time. The existing one-way restriction will be temporarily suspended and access to Frederick Street will be maintained from King Street.
However, right turns into Frederick Street from northbound traffic on King Street will not be permitted.
The restrictions shall be applied from Monday (9 January) for up to three weeks.
Elsewhere Mealmarket Street, from West North Street to the access road at Mealmarket Exchange will also close on Monday (9 January) for up to four weeks as part of the heating duct works.
Access to Mealmarket Street will be maintained from King Street to left turning vehicles only.
On 16 January (Monday) the works will continue on Park Street, which will close from the Justice Port car park access road to the Beach Boulevard Roundabout.
From 20 January (Friday) Constitution Street will close from Links Road to Park Street.
The Park Street closure shall last for up to one week while the Constitution Street closure will be in place until 16 March. Access to properties will be maintained, but no through traffic will be possible.
An alternative route during the Park Street closure will be available via Constitution Street, Links Road and the Beach Boulevard.
