Stronachs Solicitors Undertake Offshore Survival Course

Two solicitors of city firm Stronachs, Bobby McDonald and Robert McDiarmid are preparing to undertake the offshore survival course at Falck Nutek Aberdeen training centre this week to enhance the services offered by their firm by being able to offer legal advice on-site on offshore platforms where necessary.

Partner, Bobby said “Clients regularly seek our advice regarding a variety of Health and Safety issues. In the event of an offshore HSE incident; the ability to be ‘on site’ offshore and give informed, first-hand, advice will be an added benefit to our offshore duty holding clients. We feel that nowadays our clients have a heightened awareness of these issues and would like to be able to consider their legal advisors as part of their ‘rapid response team’, equipped to deal with any kind of incident– we can now attend to take statements and be present to lend reassurance and guidance when the authorities are investigating any offshore incident. We see this as the logical progression of the service we already offer our clients.” Solicitor, Robert added “We are both looking forward to the course, certainly I welcome the opportunity to gain greater insight into an aspect of the offshore industry that, as a lawyer, I would not necessarily have expected to have had access to.”

Managing Partner, David Sheach, commented “Bobby’s recent relocation to our Aberdeen office is having a positive impact on the services we already offer as a firm. There has been plenty written about the on-going changes to HSE legislation that can impact on senior management and directors in a way previously unknown. I think companies are looking to cover all bases to ensure they are complying with their HSE responsibilities. By being able to offer hands-on legal assistance offshore we can support our upstream clients at the point of greatest need and help to ensure their continuing HSE compliance.”
