Students and Young Entrepreneurs Conquer the Enterprise Youth Business ChallengeA team of seven young people from Aberdeen City and Shire and Glasgow triumphed at an entrepreneurial boot camp held recently (Friday 16 September to Sunday 18 September). The annual Enterprise Youth Business Challenge, an initiative developed by Enterprise North East Trust (Enterprise) in support of the efforts of the Scottish Government, aims to promote social inclusion for all people in the field of economic development through entrepreneurship. Participants took part in three days of grueling physical and mental challenges designed to test and develop their business talents at Dounans Outdoor Centre in Aberfoyle. Winners of the competition were The Blue Team - Gemma Bruce from Turriff, Rachel Addison from Fraserburgh, Katrin Adresen from Glasgow and Lucy Tuck, Lewis McCue, Maxine Walker and Colton Bilsborrow all from Aberdeen. Gary McEwan, chief executive of Enterprise says, “All participants in the challenge showed exceptional enthusiasm throughout the weekend. Everyone really embraced the challenges set and worked together to solve problems and get the best results which is what the challenge is all about. From bomb retrieval, boat building, raft races, and catapult competitions, the weekend gave people the opportunity to test their business skills, in a non-business environment. I hope they were all able to take something away from the weekend which will help them in their future career’s.” Colton Bilsborrow, winner of Enterprise’s Recruit programme again proved a worthy participant as part of the winning blue team. He says, “The challenge really tested all of us at every level. The tasks involved required physical and mental skills and forced us to conquer any fears we may have. Teamwork was a core part of the weekend; everyone put in 100% effort so not to let anyone else down. The weekend really made me realise that I can achieve anything if I set my mind to it. I learned so many valuable lessons and have further developed my personal skills and I am delighted I was part of it.” For further information about Enterprise log onto www.enetrust.com or call 01224 289700. 191 views
