Talking foxes to make appearance at Duff HouseAnother dramatic interpretation of a children’s literary classic will take place in the grounds of Duff House this summer, following previous popularity. Following their performance of Roald Dahl’s “James and the Giant Peach” last year, open air theatre specialists, Illyria, are returning to the Banff tourist attraction. Again they will draw on the work of Dahl, performing “Fantastic Mr Fox” on Thursday, July 14. All Mr Fox wants is to feed his family, and farmers Boggis, Bunce and Bean have an ample supply of chickens, geese and ducks. But these farmers are mean and cruel, and they are determined to put a stop to Mr Fox once and for all. As they rev up their mechanical diggers and load their guns, Mr Fox's chances are slim at best... Or will the sharpest wit win? Illyria appreciates that any performance may, for many young people in the audience, be their first exposure to live theatre. Founder and artistic director Oliver Gray, said: “Illyria's Theatre for Children has one principal aim: great storytelling. We know that children are a demanding audience, and can sniff out dishonesty and we strive to make our shows an experience they will remember for all the right reasons.” Audiences can expect brightly-costumed actors accompanied by live music and a performance that entertains audiences of all ages in an intelligent and unpatronising way. Duff House General Manager, Rachel Kennedy, said: “Last year’s Illyria show attracted around 250 people and we are hoping for similar numbers this summer. “We love having Illyria here – they are experts in comedic timing and so professional that our audiences always leave with a smile on their faces whatever their age. “Bring a picnic and something comfortable to sit on and you’ll have a ball.” Tickets are available in advance from the Duff House Shop on (01261) 813003 or on the evening. |
