Technip Employees enjoy healthy living day

More than 300 of Technip’s UK employees took part in the company’s Healthy Living Day recently, an annual event aimed at promoting positive lifestyle choices.

As the highlight of Technip’s Healthy Working Lives (HWL) programme, the event offered a wide range of health related information, as well as demonstrations, competitions, presentations and heath checks.

Those taking part were able to have their height, weight and body mass index assessed, as well as blood pressure and general fitness. Mental health and stress awareness were also discussed and advice given on the best ways to tackle it. In addition, sample smoothies, a sleep promoting spray and free hearing checks were also available to all on the day.

Maureen Howell, Technip in the UK’s Healthy Working Lives (HWL) co-ordinator said: “We had a fantastic turn out with lots of employees picking up leaflets and asking questions about general health and ways to improve their fitness, lower their blood pressure and improve flexibility. Everyone was really busy and it was encouraging to see so many employees taking time-out for themselves.

“The HWL team works hard throughout the year with many initiatives on offer to staff, these include flu vaccinations, health checks and basic first aid awareness. The healthy living day brings together all these in an annual showcase.”

Ken Brown, QHSES director, added: “Healthy Living Day is one of the highlights of our HSE calendar and regularly attracts hundreds of people. The health of our employees is extremely important to us and events such as this help people take their own steps to a healthier lifestyle. The team works incredibly hard to bring the event together and raise the profile of health within the organisation.”

Exhibitor Carolyn Taylor from Offshore Resilience Ltd, a mental health and wellbeing organisation based in Inverurie, said: “It’s fantastic that Technip offers these types of events to their employees, giving them the chance to step away from their work environment and find out more about improving their health and lifestyle.”

Technip currently holds the Gold Award from Healthy Working Lives (HWL) and is active in the support of occupational health.
