The Economy – What next?  ICAS Business Breakfast

On the brink of a second recession, rising inflation and continuing problems in the Eurozone, many people are asking what next for the economy? At the latest in Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce’s Business Breakfast Series, in connection with ICAS and the Chartered Banker, speakers will be discussing what’s next for the local, national and global economy going in to 2012.

Atholl Duncan, former Head of News at the BBC, will give an insight into the latest political developments in Brussels, Westminster and Holyrood and predict what this will mean for the future of business and the economy; Leo Koot, Managing Director at Taqa Bratani, will bring an oil and gas industry perspective to the debate concerning the region’s economic future, looking at the impact the industry has had on the area and the long-term commitment of companies like TAQA to the North-east; Nick Parsons, Head of Research, UK and Europe, National Australia Bank, will review the global economy including the areas which are undergoing growth and those which are in relative decline. He will also discuss risk factors including the sluggish US economy, the Eurozone crisis and trading conditions for next year.

The event, chaired by Graham Blair, Area Director at Bank of Scotland, is open to members and non-members and will be held at the Marcliffe at Pitfodels on Thursday, November 24 from 7 – 9am. Places can be booked online at www.agcc.co.uk/events or by calling the Events Team on (01224) 343901/343922.
