The Fifth Business Awards Top RGU StudentsRobert Gordon University’s top Communication and Media students were awarded prestigious prizes by The Fifth Business at this year’s prize giving. CEO, Enda Logan, and Business Manager, Julie Malhan, from The Fifth Business presented the awards for the best 3rd year undergraduate and best postgraduate students from RGU’s Corporate Communication Public Affairs course.
The Fifth Business is celebrating a multi-faceted ten year relationship with RGU! The company employs 2-3 new graduates from RGU every year and it continues to provide work experience and paid placements to students from relevant courses. The connection with the University means that 83% of the organisation’s employees are graduates of RGU or are studying one of their distance learning courses part-time.
Currently, the company has RGU alumnus in each of its four global offices – Aberdeen, London, Houston and The Hague; proving how beneficial the relationship is between the two organisations.
At this year’s prize giving, the best 3rd year Corporate Communication prize was awarded to Zoe Barbour. The Masters Corporate Communication and Public Affairs prizes were awarded to Leen Latif and Alissa MacWilliams. All students were selected by a panel from the Business School for the award, as they excelled academically throughout the duration of their courses.
Julie Malhan from The Fifth Business sits on the advisory committee for RGU’s Corporate Communication, Publishing and Public Relation courses and was delighted to be part of the prize giving. As a RGU Masters graduate she understands the importance of the relationship and the hard work undertaken by the students.
“Our long association with RGU and our sponsorship of the Corporate Communications & Public Relations awards are an affirmation of our respect for the institution, and an acknowledgement that some of our best recruits have come directly from this programme. Communications is recognised as an essential function in any organisation and I look forward to finding new stars from RGU to support the growth of our international assignment portfolio.”
