The name may have changed but it’s still an event fit for Kings!

A local North East event has changed its name but the organisers say it is still an event fit for Kings. Macbethfest was first run in 2009 in the year of Homecoming in conjunction with Deeside Brewery and Running the Highlands. This year the event is being called The Deeside Beer Festival.

The Deeside Beer Festival is a three day event, starting on Wednesday 11th May with the Deeside Relay, a 5k relay race through the Dess Woods, tracing the steps of Macbeth. Then on Friday 13th May the main event of The Deeside Beer Festival happens in conjunction with Deeside Brewery. Then to round things off on Saturday 14th May with The Deeside Ceilidh with renowned local band Clachan Yell.

“It’s great to be running this event again this year, The Beer Festival is very popular and with the bus from Aberdeen it makes it easier for people to get here and then get home again.” Said Fiona McIver of Deeside Activity Park, “We are also so pleased that Clachan Yell have agreed to play for our ceilidh on the Saturday night, having a great music to drink up the beers makes all the difference!”

“We still have the connection with Macbeth with the event being held at Deeside Activity Park so closed to were Macbeth fought his last battle and with Deeside Brewery’s signature beer being called Macbeth, but we decided that Deeside Beer Festival would tell people exactly what the event was about.” Said Rob from Deeside Brewery.

The Beer Festival is free entry again this year and the ceilidh is a bargain at £15 per ticket which also includes food. Entry forms for the running event can be found on www.runningthehighlands.com and more information on all the Deeside Festival events can be found at www.deesideactivitypark.com.
