The war for talent can be won from inside your company

Delegates at a seminar in Aberdeen next week, Tuesday 8 November, will hear from internationally respected consultant and author Alan Crozier that they can win a decisive victory in the war on talent from inside their own organisations.

Mr Crozier’s new book “The Engagement Manifesto: a systemic approach to organisational success”, argues that the real value-driver in any organisation is the people.

The seminar on employee engagement, held in Café Coast, is hosted in conjunction with Aberdeen head-quartered HR, recruitment and training consultancy, The Urquhart Partnership, in an effort to clear some of the clutter, clichés and buzzwords surrounding employee engagement; helping organisations to understand what it’s truly about – and to implement it effectively.

Mr Crozier said: “Many organisations could increase their performance by adopting an employee engagement philosophy, creating an environment in which the values, systems, policies, and behaviours adopted by the organisation are aligned with and supportive of the pursuit of its objectives through its people.”

He will show how adopting this approach leads to greater alignment and commitment from employees, meaning better productivity, less wastage, engaged employees, improved retention of talent, and greater advocacy where employees help recruit new talent.

Urquhart Partnership managing director, Campbell Urquhart, added: “Time after time in Aberdeen, we hear organisations complaining of talent shortages, but in actual fact, they probably already employ a wealth of hidden talent that, with a bit of developing and support, could be exactly what they are looking for.

“Businesses often focus so much effort and energy looking for, and paying top dollar to, so-called finished article employees, that they overlook the aptitudes and skills their people already have. This clearly has to change otherwise the talent pool in the future will be even smaller.”
