Trade visit proves successThe International Trade division of Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce has just returned from a successful trade mission to Uganda and Tanzania. The mission focussed on energy and associated sectors. A number of UK-based companies travelled to Kampala, Uganda and Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania to meet with local companies and government officials to discuss possible export trade opportunities and future partnering. A number of briefing and networking events were held during the course of the week-long visit with key local organisations in the Energy, Investment, and Environmental sectors. Evening receptions were held by the British High Commission in both countries to allow delegates to learn more about the region’s needs and to network with potential partners. Roundtable discussions were also held with Tullow Oil, Neptune Petroleum, Total and British Gas on their future exploration and development plans in the region.” Mission Leader, Julien Masse, International Business Executive, Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce, said: “ Both these East African regions are in the embryonic stages of developing their oil and gas infrastructure and it makes sense for UK to showcase their range of proven products and services to win early market share. As a direct result of our visit many of the delegates received enquiries of interest and were added to vendor lists for upcoming contracts.” Julien added, “The feedback from this mission was so positive, that a return visit to Uganda and Tanzania will be made in April next year to further develop Scottish and UK trade relations with these countries. “ ABC's trade mission will go to Angola.
