Traffic restrictions during Highlanders Homecoming parade

The following traffic restrictions will be in place in Aberdeen city centre on Thursday [1 December] as the 4 Scots Highlanders Homecoming parade takes place:

From 11.30am – 12.30pm:

• Albyn Place will be closed between its junctions with Albyn Grove and Holburn junction.

 

From noon until 1.30pm:

• Union Street will be closed;

• Netherkirkgate will be closed just east of Flourmill Lane;

• Broad Street will be closed at Queen Street (access will be maintained for residents and businesses only);

• Castle Street will be closed;

• King Street will be closed from the East North Street/West North Street junction to Castle Street.

 

From 12.30pm until 1pm:

• Union Terrace will be closed;

• Bridge Street will be closed from the College Street/Wapping Street junction to Union Street;

 

The right turn ban from Holburn Street into Willowbank Road will be suspended from noon until 1pm and the right turn ban from King Street into West North Street will be suspended from noon until 1.30pm.

 

The taxi ranks will be open for business, but there will be slight changes to the operation of the Back Wynd and Hadden Street ranks from noon until 1pm.

 

The front of the Back Wynd rank will be moved back to the Little Belmont Street junction, which will allow taxis to exit by Little Belmont Street, right on to Belmont Street and onwards to Schoolhill.

 

Taxis will exit the Hadden Street rank using a right turn only onto Market Street.
