UHY Network set up international energy group

Aberdeen-based independent chartered accountants, Campbell Dallas, have been instrumental in seeking to establish an energy network within the UHY worldwide network of independent accounting and consulting companies, of which they are the only Scottish member.

Tom Faichnie, a partner with Campbell Dallas and head of their specialist energy division, says they have received an enthusiastic response from members keen to be part of a worldwide network with a specific focus on energy.

“Although we’re based in Aberdeen, oil and gas is a global industry so we need to act globally, not just as an Aberdeen team. As the only Scottish member of UHY, we believe that by setting up the Energy Group we can establish proper working relationships with our counterparts in UHY offices around the world so that they are not just a name in a book. “

Faichnie worked closely with colleagues in Houston to set up the Energy Group. At its inaugural meeting in London recently representatives from the network’s offices in London, Nigeria, Singapore, Norway Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Kazakstan and Dubai discussed how they could take things forward.

UHY currently has over 200 business centres in 78 countries and Faichnie says members of the Energy Group will now be able to offer a more strategic and comprehensive service to their oil and gas company clients.

‘If one of our clients needs something quickly from Nigeria, for instance, we know that our contacts in the office there not only have a thorough understanding of the energy industry, but will deliver for our clients immediately. We want people to come to Campbell Dallas not only because we’re in Aberdeen but because we know our way around the global marketplace.’

At the international conference, UHY also issued the network’s 2012 UHY Capability Statement which showcases the breadth and depth of its member firms’ services and capabilities. In particular it demonstrates how member firms continue to work together internationally throughout sectors, specialisms and geographical regions offering innovative and practical solutions to their clients. The formation of the Energy Group further strengthens the UHY network.
