US Consulate visits AGCC

Representatives from Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce met with US Consul General Dana Linnet at the Chamber’s offices during her visit to Aberdeen.

The Chamber team briefed her on some of the issues facing businesses, including American-owned companies, in the North-east and outlined the region’s strengths across a range of sectors including the food and drink industry, education, research and development, tourism and renewables as well as in oil and gas.

The group also discussed existing and potential business opportunities between Scotland and Canada. There are currently around 1000 American companies based in the UK with up to 10% of the workforce based in Scotland. Fifty per cent of all Scotland’s exports – including whisky – go  to the US. There are 10,000 US students currently studying in Scotland.
