Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce offers one of the most flexible training programmes in vocational qualifications, allowing candidates to demonstrate competence in different environments.

Qualification is gained through a variety of assessment methods and compilation of a portfolio of evidence.

N/SVQs are organised into five levels.
Briefly these are:
Level 1: Foundation Skills and Occupations
Level 2: Operative or semi-skilled occupations
Level 3: Technician, craft skilled and supervisory occupations
Level 4: Technical and middle management occupations
Level 5: Chartered, professional and senior management occupations.

NVQ/SVQs at Level 2 are aimed at school leavers and young members of staff who have few formal qualifications and wish to improve their future prospects.

NVQ/SVQs at Level 3 are aimed a those who have been in their position for some time and wish to gain recognition for being competent at their job. Those whose position is supervising staff may also wish to consider Management Level 3.

NVQ/SVQs at Levels 4 are aimed at employees who have moved into a management role after being in another position for several years and wish to look at a qualification which will demonstrate competence at a more senior level.

NVQ/SVQs at Levels 5 are aimed at employees who are in a senior management role such as Directors, Operation or Strategic Managers or Owner Managers. They will be involved in decision making and strategic planning. They will have been in their role for several years and can demonstrate competence at a senior level
