Volunteering Open Day at North East Sensory ServicesOn Friday 30th September North East Sensory Services will be holding a Volunteering Open Day at their newly refurbished centre in 21 John Street, Aberdeen. Open from 11am to 2pm this event will introduce the variety of volunteering opportunities at NESS to the public. Linda Fachie, Voluntary Services Officer for NESS says: ‘The wide range of charitable services NESS provide would not be possible without the continuous support of over 200 Volunteers. This is an opportunity to celebrate their involvement and to showcase what they do. We invite the interested public to explore our newly refurbished premises and we hope to inspire even more people to get involved in volunteering.’ At the Open Day Volunteers will demonstrate a range of volunteering activities, such as Befriending, recording audio news magazines, supporting the children and young people’s project, administering the talking books library, assisting individuals during their gym sessions, facilitating social groups, fundraising and much more. Visitors are invited to have a tour of the centre, open up to new sensory experiences, get their brains going in a quiz and take part in line dancing. Refreshments will be provided and there will be opportunities to speak to Volunteers currently involved. Anyone interested is welcome and encouraged to drop in on the day.
