Walkers wanted for winter wander at Aberdeen hillAberdeen City Council’s ranger service is inviting local residents to take part in the latest in a series of walks in the city this week. The Health Walks programme was devised by the ranger service in partnership with NHS Grampian and the Forestry Commission Scotland and includes walks of varying intensity and length.
The next one will be held on Friday [25 November] from 2pm and will be an easy paced walk around Kincorth Hill. Participants are asked to meet at Kincorth Hill Local Nature Reserve car park which is located on Nigg Way (off Abbotswell Crescent). Buses 21 and 21A also stop close to the car park.
Countryside ranger Ruth Bone said: “The start to the winter has been so mild that some of the trees are blossoming. Why not take the chance to get outside without having to pile on the woollies while we can?”
There are a few steep sections on the route and some of the paths may be muddy so participants are advised to wear sturdy footwear. The walk is free but places must be booked by calling 01224 897400.
Leaflets describing all the routes in the Health Walks programme can be downloaded online at www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/rangerservice.
