WESTHILL GOLF CLUB TO HOST ANNUAL BEFRIEND A CHILD BIG KIDS’ GOLF CHALLENGE

A limited number of places remain for local children’s charity Befriend A Child’s annual fundraising golf challenge later this month.

Now in its fourth year, the Big Kids Challenge Cup event will take place at Westhill Golf Club on Friday, August 19, with the proceeds raised on the day going directly to Befriend A Child, which provides a befriending service to deprived and vulnerable children in the local community.

Teams of four are required for the Stableford event, with registration commencing at 11.30am and the competition getting underway at 12.30pm with a shotgun start.

Entry is £300 per team and includes a soup and sandwich lunch prior to the start of play and supper following the conclusion of the competition. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team, there will be a closest to the pin and straightest drive competition and a raffle featuring a host of golf-related prizes.

Anyone interested in registering a team or requiring further information should visit www.befriendachild.org.uk or call 01224 210 060.

Established in 1975, Befriend A Child is Scotland's oldest befriending service for disadvantaged children. Working with social workers, care homes, health visitors, and other charities, Befriend A Child supports children aged 4-16 and continues to work with them up until the age of 18, if required.

The scheme became a registered charity in 1991 and in 2010 worked with more than 170 children in Aberdeen City - its largest number to date. It has recently expanded its services into Aberdeenshire for the first time.
