Westhill seniors enjoy Royal Wedding thanks to Technip
Leading subsea engineering and construction contractor Technip has put a smile on the faces of Westhill senior citizens by helping them stage a Royal Wedding Street Party.
For a number of years Technip has annually donated £1,500 to the Rotary Club of Westhill and District’s senior citizens Christmas party, helping the club to cover the cost of organising and running the event, but due to bad weather the 2010 party was cancelled. The arrival of spring saw the event rescheduled and instead of the usual festive fun, an indoor street party featuring live Royal Wedding coverage and lunch was organised. The Queen (of the Rotary) was even on hand to welcome the 190 guests to the event! Technip HR and Communications director, Katrine Sharp, commented: “We are delighted that the club decided to re-organise, planning such a fun-filled event for the senior citizens. The Royal Wedding was a real spectacle and it is fantastic that Technip has been able to help bring the community together to enjoy it.” Allan Fair of Westhill Rotary added: “The club decided to organise an alternative event for the senior citizens as Christmas seemed a long time to wait to get together again. The ongoing support of companies like Technip is crucial to the success of these events and the support is greatly appreciated by the Rotarians.”
