Wheat Proposal

The Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce is looking to attract a British consulting company that can conduct a comprehensive feasibility study on the potential for increasing the wheat cultivation in Egypt.

The company will need to have experience in consultancy in the agricultural, irrigation and grain sectors. The scope of work should include and not limited to:

• Techno-economic analysis to verify the feasibility to expand growing wheat in Egypt. This analysis should include:

a- Egypt’s climate suitability to grow wheat on an economic magnitude with emphasis on New Remote Reclaimable Lands (NRRL)

b- Potential yield per acre in NRRL

c- Geographical analysis for cultivatable regions in Egypt including soil analysis

d- Vertical expansion versus horizontal in the old valley lands, taking into consideration the 3-year rotation agriculture regime

• Investment and operation cost versus import cost from the world market

• Self sufficiency versus political and market price risks

• Potential growing Egyptian wheat in other high yield countries (Argentina, Canada, Australia or Africa Sub-Sahara …..).

• Irrigation & water resources

• Labour requirements and cost

• Any other elements to be determined by the consultant
