Winning See Me Photograph Goes On Display at ACVO

The Aberdeen Council of Voluntary Organisations (ACVO) will be displaying the entries from the “See Me” 2009 photo competition at their new headquarters in Greyfriars House, Aberdeen.

The competition entries will be on display from Friday 5th February until Monday 5th April to allow the public the chance to see the photos. ACVO got the opportunity to exhibit the photos as their Chief Executive Ian Paterson was one of the judges and helped pick the winning entry.

2009 was the second year that “See Me” have organised the “Positive Frame of Mind” photo competition as the competition in 2008 was extremely successful. The theme of the competition was “Be there. Be yourself” and allowed budding photographers to send in their captioned photos that illustrated their interpretation of the theme.

ACVO moved into the new offices in the East Wing of Greyfriars House at the beginning of December and will be holding their first annual general meeting there on Wednesday 10th February at 4pm, allowing members to view the competition entries.

Ian Paterson, the Chief Executive of ACVO said “Some fantastic photographs with some particularly interesting background stories to the images make the exhibition really wonderful to see. The high standard of entries will ensure that the 2010 competition is going to be incredible, and details will be released shortly via the ACVO E-bulletin.”

The “See Me” anti stigma campaign is managed by an alliance of five Scottish mental health organisations and is fully funded by the Scottish Government. The campaign features a programme of events as well as local and national initiatives to reduce the stigma faced by people with metal health problems throughout Scotland.
