Winter weather guidance for A2B passengersWith winter approaching, passengers of Aberdeenshire’s A2B dial-a-buses should be aware of how winter weather can affect services. In severe weather conditions or in case of icy roads, any of the A2B services may be cancelled.
If an A2B service is running in bad weather, buses may be running slower than usual, delaying pick-up times.
For all A2B services, except in the central Buchan area, the decision whether to operate will usually be taken first thing in the morning, taking into account the safety of drivers and passengers.
In central Buchan this decision will be taken no later than 4pm the day before, except for Monday services, which will be decided over the weekend.
Whenever possible a limited service, known as a winter weather service, will operate in central Buchan.
The central Buchan winter weather service will operate between 10am-4pm and the vehicles will only operate on main roads, which means that a door-to-door service is not possible for everyone. In severe conditions the central Buchan A2B service will be cancelled.
Central Buchan passengers should also be aware that the service may have to be cancelled at short notice in the interests of safety and they may need to make alternative arrangements to get home.
The council will try to contact passengers direct to keep them up-to-date, but this may not always be possible.
Service updates are provided on the council’s A2B website at: www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/a2b/
You can also register to receive direct emails and alerts to your mobile phone whenever the website is updated at: www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/alerts/
If you don’t have an email address you can call the A2B team on (01224) 664747 to sign up for text alerts to your phone.
This information will also be automatically relayed to Waves Radio, Northsound 1 and Radio Scotland (Aberdeen), so these are also valuable sources of information.
You can check for any disruption to A2B services by calling our Winter Weather Information Line, on (01224) 665466, which will have a recorded message.
Alternatively, call our general enquiries number, (01224) 664747. 71 views
