Yes camp calls for greater transparency on ‘Golden Goodbyes’New polling figures released today by the Yes campaign are showing that 2/3 of voters disapprove of the controversial ‘Golden Goodbyes’. [1] The poll also shows only a quarter of voters think the changed expenses rules are enough to restore trust in politics. Parliament has thus far failed to disclose the size of the resettlement grants paid to departing politicians. The Yes campaign has stated this is further evidence that the “lessons of the expenses scandal have not been learned.” Katie Ghose, Chair of the Yes to Fairer Votes campaign said:
“It’s very clear that the lessons of the expenses scandal have not been learned. Today’s fudge on resettlement grants underlines the need for greater transparency in our politics.
“These poll findings show that just changing the expenses rules is nowhere near enough. Deeper reform to the way we do politics is needed.”
