Zenith celebrates double Queen’s successFast-growing Inverurie company Zenith Oilfield Technology was presented with its second Queen’s Award for Enterprise on Wednesday 15 June for achieving outstanding international sales. The Queen’s Lord-Lieutenant for Aberdeenshire, James Ingleby, made the award as he toured Zenith’s facility at Thainstone Business Park and met some of the local workers who have helped Zenith achieve such international success.
The company, which operates in the artificial lift sector of the global oil and gas industry, received the award for generating export sales which exceed £75 million since start up in 2004, with plans to surpass £100 million during the next 12 months.
With 85 staff, operating out of 30 countries, Zenith has grown international sales by 60% in the last two years whilst creating a further 20 local jobs and supporting the community.
Greg Davie, managing director said: “We are honoured to receive the accolade for the second time, which is in no small part down to the hard work of our team in Inverurie. It is excellent that the Lord-lieutenant took the time to have a tour of our research and test facility to meet some of the people behind the scenes who are driving the new technologies to enable our growth. We pride ourselves on always looking ahead and are lucky to have some of the brightest engineers designing new solutions that ultimately increase oil production rates.”
Lord-Lieutenant James Ingleby praised Zenith for the achievement. He said: “I am pleased to present this award to Zenith on behalf of the Queen. I’ve enjoyed an amazing tour of the facilities here today and it is clear that none of it would be possible without the people who work here, who do an excellent job. To win an award, particularly for the second time, is a huge achievement and I’m sure I’ll be back again as Zenith is a company that is growing and succeeding.”
Kyle Reid, a lab technician from Banchory joined Zenith last year after being made redundant. He said: “We are all really pleased, it’s a brilliant achievement. There is a lot of money invested here in the research and development of new technologies, so my job is exciting with innovative projects to work on. It’s a great place to work.”
Andy Riach, a workshop supervisor from Turriff, joined Zenith six years ago. He said: “I was one of only 13 people when I joined the company, so that shows just how much we’ve grown as the technology has taken off around the world. The award is a boost for everyone who works here and we’re very proud.”
Zenith has attributed its growth to the increased need for its technologies as the search for hydrocarbons intensifies in fields with heavy oil and more mature basins. The company has achieved sales in North and South America, Europe, North and West Africa and the Middle and Far East.
Some of the trailblazing technology that has been developed includes ‘XT’, a system that monitors oil and gas well pressure and temperatures at up to 500 Celsius.
It has also pioneered ‘Z-Sight’ - a well surveillance tool that gathers crucial information from wells and processes it providing key data to well management teams enabling optimal oil recovery. 120 views
