Jack Allan is the 22 year old founder of 95 Social, an Edinburgh-based start-up encouraging Scotland’s small businesses to think differently about social media. Jack believes in demonstrating a business’ personality and the use of simple yet well thought through content to engage and maintain an audiences’ attention on social media.
He will present on the state of social media today – covering four actionable changes you can make to your social media activity. Each will be absolutely up to date and grounded with evidence from the most recent client work he has completed.
Joan Johnston is the creative director at Bespoke Fabrics. With over 25 years’ experience working across British luxury textiles in both creative and commercial roles, Joan has also worked with internationally renowned brands in the US, Italy, France and Japan. Fulfilling roles ranging from creative lead, board director, online business owner and university programme leader, she has acquired a wealth of knowledge from developing initial concepts through to experiential brand-focused promotion and sales delivery.
With a particular passion and belief in the value of premium textile based products made across the UK and Ireland, Joan understands the need for clear communication in telling a unique brand story in order to effectively engage, gain and retain a loyal and sustainable customer base.  Recognising the power of customer engagement, her recent research highlights the key attributes linking the customer with the maker.
Simon Pitts, the newly appointed STV chief executive, will give his insights into the different mediums that are available for marketing and the current trends like the emergence of digital marketing. Prior to his role with STV Simon was a member of the executive board of ITV plc, holding the position of managing director, for Online, Pay TV, and Interactive &Technology.
Over a 17 year career, Simon held a range of senior roles, was one of the main architects of the company’s recent transformation, and oversaw strong growth in ITV’s digital businesses. He was also on the board of news provider ITN for eight years, and is vice chair of the trustees of the Royal Television Society.
