Join us to find out how to take advantage of trade opportunities in Latin America. Understand how to finance new business and mitigate the potential risks of post-Brexit trade.
Latin American countries are experiencing an energy transformation. The well documented energy reforms in Mexico continue to offer opportunities for UK companies in the oil and gas sector with Round 2.4 taking place on 31st January. According to World Atlas, four Latin American countries are in the top 20 countries with the largest proven oil reserves, with Venezuela ranking number 1. Mexico has a national goal of 35% of power from clean energies by 2024 and Chile, Argentina, Peru, Brazil and Costa Rica have each completed successful rounds of renewable energy auctions. Opportunities for conventional and clean technologies are open for UK business.
John Brown, export finance manager, will discuss how UK Export Finance can help you win, fulfil and get paid for exports in this region. His presentation will look at the range of financial solutions that UK Export Finance have available to support UK exporters.
Claire Harrison will join to give an overview of oil and gas related items which are controlled for export. These include submersible vehicles; underwater communication systems and equipment, sonar and marine acoustics either for export or leasing to offshore installations including the UK Continental Shelf. She will also outline the range of licenses available and explain why export licenses are required if you are doing business in a sanctioned destination.
Liam Smyth, director of international trade facilitation, British Chamber of Commerce joins this event to unravel the Brexit impacts on trading in Mexico and the wider region. Liam will provide an update on likely scenarios for post-Brexit trade with Mexico and the wider region. More generally, he will cover the emerging issues raised by the planned ‘grandfathering’ of EU trade agreements on areas such as Rules of Origin, Cumulation, and Tariff Rate Quotas.
Chris Wall, Business Specialist, Oil and Gas Sector Mexico, Department of International Trade will update you on the opportunities and challenges of doing business in the Mexican energy sector.
After the event there will be an opportunity to meet with each of the speakers on a 1-2-1 basis. If you would like to book in for a 1-2-1 slot, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to note your interest.
