Over 64,000 tonnes of plastic food packaging and plastic bottles is thrown into household general rubbish bins and sent to landfill every year in Scotland, costing the country a staggering £11m each year.
It’s time to come together to combat one of the great environmental challenges of our time. Nearly one third of the plastic packaging we use globally escapes collection systems, which means that it ends up clogging our streets, blocking our drains, polluting our national environment on land and in the sea.
Dr Cait Murray-Green of CuanTec will share how CuanTec’s revolutionary new process takes food waste and converts it into antimicrobial food packaging which prevents food waste and provides a solution to plastic pollution.
Angus Willis of Forest Farm will provide insight into Scotland’s first milk vending machines and their heard of happy organic cows.
Alex Duthie of ThermaPak will talk about their inspiration behind the fully biodegradable gel paks, recyclable boxes and thermal liners for food transportation as well as highlighting the importance of changing mindsets towards food packaging.
